Kate Winslet Has A Hotter Bod Than Megan Fox
January 18th 2010 22:12
The New Year is upon us, and even though we may have enjoyed an extra cookie (or 4) during this holiday season, a lot of people are going to be setting the oh so predictable New Year's Resolution of losing a few pounds in 2010. We can't help it, American is obsessed with skinny -- or is it?
A recent poll suggests that even though many of us may still feel like the world is screaming at us to be and stay in those children's sized clothes, the overall mindset of "a desirable figure" is changing - at least when it comes to women.
Kate Winslet, Halle Berry, and Beyonce were voted the most desirable celebrity bodies, beating out Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, and even Meghan Fox.
An earlier poll, sponsored by Special K cereal and done in the summer of 2009, also suggests that many of us our changing our opinions when it comes to female beauty. Nigella Lawson, the gorgeous British chef who makes amazing things like Doughnut French Toast, topped the list of figures women would like to have. Dame Helen Mirren was also considered to have a hot bod (you've seen those pictures, haven't you?), along with the surprising but always inspiring Dame Judi Dench.
While there's nothing wrong with being naturally thin, the gravitational pull towards healthily proportioned women is a trend that helps most of us breathe a little easier. Everyone can have their own opinion of beauty, but the less focus put on the ribcage, the better.
Winslet, who has time and time again spoke out against the strange trend toward dieting ourselves into nothingness, is also a big advocate against cosmetic plastic surgery. ""If people are noticing my boobs in a movie and saying they do what real boobs do," she commented to People magazine in July, "then that's great."
Europeans must be thinking the same thing because just this month a ban was proposed on all "digitally altered models targeting girls younger than 16". More and more people seem to be crying out for the real deal. Beauty doesn't have to come from Photoshop.
With so many fabulous female role models who are no longer afraid to let their real curves show, 2010 will hopefully usher in a different sort of resolution. A resolution not just to give up sweets and torture ourselves on the treadmill, but to find our true healthy weight and love every pound of it.
